The main task of Opolskie Centre for Regional Surveys is promoting, disseminating, sharing and popularising statistical information and knowledge in the region using modern IT techniques and information resources of public statistics with particular emphasis on the needs of local and central government as well as scientific centres.

OOBR is in particular responsible for:

• initiating and developing systematic information and analyses of socio-economic situation in the region;
• maintaining a knowledge base about the region;
• cooperation with institutions and organisations responsible for designing and implementing regional policy;
• implementation of tasks involving the acquisition, preparation and analysis of data used in data sharing;
• recognising the demand for data, including information regarding the specifics of Opolskie Voivodship;
• providing and disseminating the resulting the resulting statistical information specified in the statistical research program;
• developing publications characterising socio-economic situation of the voivodship;
• cooperation and support of local government bodies and other interested organisations in developing analyses and forecasts of particular importance in decision-making processes;
• ongoing information services for all users of statistical information;
• carrying out work in the field of popularisation and promotion of statistics and dissemination of knowledge about statistics, including conducting statistical education in Opolskie Voivodship;
• participation in the international cooperation in the field of euroregion statistics as well as initiating and developing publications regarding the Pradziad (Praděd) Euroregion.
